From libertarian paternalism to liberalism: behavioural science and policy in an age of new technology

Abstract Behavioural science has been effectively used by policy makers in various domains, from health to savings. However, interventions that behavioural scientists typically employ change behaviour have at the centre of an ethical debate, given they include elements paternalism implications for people's freedom choice. In present article, we argue this debate could be resolved future through implementation and advancement new technologies. We propose several technologies which are currently available rapidly evolving (i.e., virtual augmented reality, social robotics, gamification, self-quantification, informatics) a potential integrated with non-paternalistic way. More specifically, people would decide themselves behaviours want select use purpose, role develop transparent these sense, move libertarian liberalism, freely choose how change, create technological make possible.
